Part of our responsibility to our Hay There trained Independent Social Media Managers is to unpack everything from buzzy trends to the intimidating gorillas of the online world, in order to ensure that graduates have the confidence of understanding to fuel their world class delivery of services to their clients.
Right now, there is no better example of this than the recent release of ChatGPT. OpenAI released the product in November, 2022, and in just a few months, hundreds of millions have embraced it for endless uses. Coupled with the chatter of nervous professionals who fear that chatGPT may replace their role at work, it is the perfect recipe of knowing enough to be dangerous.
Although access to the technology is new, the development of this large language model known as ChatGPT is nearly 40 years in the making. Multiple decades and endless volumes of content in many languages now allows us to work and communicate more efficiently. “In effect, OpenAI trained GPT-3 to master the game of conversation and invited everyone to come and play.” Our collective excitement surrounding the potential convenience factor is matched by a fear of obsolescence.
While many individuals are attempting to process how exactly this new technology will make our lives look different in the future, the Hay There community is, as usual, working to figure it out together. Hay There Founder, Emily A. Hay seized the moment by finding a power user and student of all things ChatGPT. Fortunately, she connected with Isabella Bedoya, who focuses on ChatGPT prompts, carousel, & so much more. Bedoya’s viral post about using ChatGPT to make LinkedIn carousels on Canva was so informative; Hay knew she was the perfect fit for the professional development of the Community of Independent Hay There Social Media Managers.
Bedoya covered critical content in an approachable way. Everyone learned so much from her prompts, her examples and her ideas. It was exciting for a community of social media managers to be able to talk about client applications and ideas that directly impact our daily work with someone who lives it and has proven success with it. Some highlights were watching Bedoya request a 30 day content calendar, and instantly watch the tool generate a beautifully diverse mix of topics and resources.
While the expertly led tour of ChatGPT was chock full of black and white information on the tool, it was really the shading Bedoya contributed throughout our conversation. As a bleeding edge adopter, the discussion always led to the irreplaceable nature of the human touch. ChatGPT should be embraced for what it is: a tool, and not viewed as a threat. After all, everything we generated throughout our time with her needed to be reviewed and finessed.
Members of the Hay There community who were able to attend the event live were blown away by the ease of use, and applications for ChatGPT. Nicole Kucab, a Hay There Independent Social Media Manager said “thank you for finding and scheduling Isabella! This was SO helpful. I am actually putting her ideas to use already!”
