Emily A. Hay is committed to leveraging her passion for social media to help her clients succeed and grow.  Her marketing background and experience in a Fortune 500 B2B sales arena give her an edge when it comes to delivering results to clients.

After working in a small business environment that facilitated corporate sponsorship sales — including developing marketing campaigns for global companies seeking affiliation with major events in the Detroit area such as the North American International Auto Show and America’s Thanksgiving Parade — Emily decided to start her own Detroit-based business, Hay There Social Media.

She identified a need in the business community: Small business owners must be able to authentically connect with customers through the emerging platform of social media. Her company — with a team of all women — specializes in simplifying social media marketing to help clients move their businesses forward through marketing, networking and building a brand.  Hay There Social Media creates social media campaigns, builds targeted online communities and uses online reviews to help clients thrive. The company’s social media managers work with a wide variety of businesses in B2C industries.

A leader in the social media sphere, Emily is a public speaker, the social media contributor to the Internet Advisor show on WJR 760 AM and a contributing professional on ‘Live in the D’ on WDIV/NBC Detroit.  She was named one of “30 in their 30s” by DBusiness magazine and one of “52 Empowering Women of 2013” by the WooHoo Radio Network.  Emily shares her insider knowledge and tips to audiences across the U.S. Notably, Emily has worked with the Madow Brothers, who have been teaching dental practices how to be successful for more than 20 years. She has been quoted in Entrepreneur.com, Crain’s Detroit Business, the Detroit Free Press and has been featured in After5 Detroit.

As the founder of the TweetTeam™, Emily is innovating the ways businesses can use social media to activate targeted and measurable word-of-mouth buzz.  Her TweetTeam™ has completed these “social media street team” projects for Detroit’s NBC affiliate, WDIV Local 4, as well as for area retailers.  Recently, Emily launched a startup called socialgig.co™, an online marketplace connecting businesses with talented social media freelancers to create, cultivate and build organic brand buzz.  Also as the co-creator of “Saving Face for Parents of Tweens™,” she is committed to providing effective social media guidance for parents of young teens who desire to use social media safely and with their long-term reputations in mind.

Emily is a core volunteer member for Founder Friday Detroit by Women 2.0, is a Board Member of Challenge Detroit and is involved with the Cornerstone Schools Partner Program.  She graduated from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and in her spare time, she enjoys traveling, U2 concerts, philanthropy involving education and youth development initiatives.  Emily also relishes the opportunity to create and innovate.
