As Emily A. Hay and Ali Spitzer wrote in their article for Fast Company titled, “Why Just Go Freelance is Crappy Advice” (especially for women), freelance allows professionals to gain flexibility, fulfillment and financial independence.

But one of the downsides of freelance is how isolating it can be.  Unfortunately, success is not a given to those who decide to pave their own professional path.  However, one of the key ways to make freelancing successful, is to surround oneself with community, or other people doing similar work in similar ways.

In this video, our founder, Emily A. Hay, speaks with LePra George, the Head of Community and Partnerships at We Are Rosie, about what community means, how community is key to freelance success and what it looks like for tens of thousands of freelance professionals today in the We Are Rosie community.

They also discuss how Hay There Social Media ensures no woman Hay There trains becomes a “lonely freelancer.” Emily discusses the relevance of the saying, “if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.”
