Local 4 is more connected than ever from TV broadcasts to live events to the social media sphere.  The members of Hay There Social Media are proud to facilitate an exciting social media project for Local 4, by using Twitter to foster real-time awareness and connectedness in the social media community.   People can turn to Twitter to experience a new level of interaction with the live broadcast of the Target Fireworks in downtown Detroit on Monday, June 25, 2012.

LAYING THE GROUND WORK

The work will begin the week before the event, with members of the Local 4 Tweet Team – Hay There Social Media Managers – reaching out to build excitement, awareness and enthusiasm about the station’s broadcast. Tweeting with a specific hash tag, #local4summer, the team members – all women – are doing what they do best: Reaching out to an influential demographic of connected, social women who are passionate about community and rely on social media to connect with news sources like Local 4.

Since social media is as spontaneous as it gets, tweets that night will share insider views and happenings live from the event to contribute to an enhanced “social TV” experience for those watching the broadcast from home. The team is also putting their experience to work to connect with influential bloggers and social media enthusiasts in the community to spread the word.  “It is such an important initiative by Local 4 to connect with people where they consume their news and Twitter is a powerful outlet to keep the connection going before, during and after a broadcast.  We are thrilled to be working with Local 4 as they build relationships with social media users, particularly on this exciting night,” said Emily A. Hay, Founder of Hay There Social Media

INTERACTIVE VIEWING

One of the unique aspects of the Tweet Team’s work with Local 4 is to make what used to be a passive experience – watching the fireworks on television – a richer, deeper, more interactive experience.  Not only will viewers watch the show, but they will be actively involved in the event – all from the comfort of their homes or smartphones.  Viewers can ooh and ahh over the brilliant display, all while entering to win prizes, registering for Vote 4 The Best and see what others are saying and thinking via social media.

GOALS AND VISION

The goal is to get as many people as possible Tweeting that night, experiencing the Target Fireworks and connecting with Local 4 in the social media community.

The team’s work won’t stop after the fireworks have all exploded and dazzled Detroit.  Be sure to tune in to the next morning’s news where the Tweet Team will appear live on Local 4 to recap the event and their social media efforts.
